Tuition & Fees

2017 Tuition, Housing & Fees

How do we determine our tuition - At MAI we are keenly aware of the financial struggles facing young performers today and we work closely with our sponsors and donors to keep our tuition and fees at a minimum.  Program fees differ by studio and are determined by the duration of the program and the costs associated with each studio. For all of our performance studios (Opera, Musical Theatre, Chamber Music, Festival Orchestra, Collaborative Piano) your housing is included in the tuition fee.  Compare our fees to other programs in the US and Europe and you will see that Music Academy International is extremely competitive.  MAI is not just a summer program it is an investment in your future!

ARRIVAL/DEPARTURE DATES: The program dates listed for each studio reflect the arrival day and the departure day. MAI is not able to accommodate early arrivals or late departures.

TRAVEL:  MAI provides free shuttle buses that run from Marco Polo Airport (VCE) to Mezzano/Fiera di Primiero on your arrival day at 4 pm.  Return buses depart at 7 am from Mezzano/Fiera di Primiero and run to VCE.  We encourage everyone that wishes to take the shuttle to plan their arrival and departure flights accordingly.  For those that are arriving from other locations, MAI will provide a travel fact sheet to assist you with the logistics of arriving in Mezzano/Fiera di Primiero.

HOUSING (Music Theatre – Chamber Music & Piano Performance – Festival Orchestra): Housing is included with your tuition and is provided in private apartments throughout Mezzano and Fiera di Primiero. Each apartment is centrally located and comes fully equipped with bed linens, pillows, towels, and kitchen privileges. The number of occupants  in each apartment vary depending on the size of the apartment. Private and semi-private accommodations are limited and are available for an additional cost.

HOUSING (Opera Performance Studio – Collaborative Piano):  Housing is provided with your tuition at the 4 STAR Boutique Hotel Orshingher in Fiera di Primiero, within 5 minutes walking distance from the rehearsal studios and the performance venue.  Breakfast is included daily at the hotel. Lunch is included Monday – Friday at the hotel.

HOUSING SUZUKI:  Housing is not included in the Suzuki tuition.  MAI works with local hotels, B&B, and home owners to ensure that we can meet a wide variety of housing options for families.  The cost varies from $350 – $500 per person for the 14 night period depending on the type of housing you prefer.  Once you register and decide how many people will be in your party, our staff will work firsthand with you to assure that you are provided with a housing option that will best fit your family needs.  Once that determination is made you will receive an invoice for the cost. Payments will be due within 10 days of receiving your invoice.

HOUSING DEPOSITS:  Each participant staying in an apartment is required to pay a €100 refundable security deposit upon check in.  This is a typical fee that is associated with housing of larger groups in Italy and is refundable on the day you check out assuming that you leave the housing in a clean and acceptable condition.

HEALTH INSURANCE: Young Artists and family members are required to provide proof of health insurance upon check in along with an emergency contact number and email address. This can be a copy of your insurance card or a letter of coverage from your insurance company.  Should you need to see a doctor during your time in Italy an MAI staff member will arrange the appointment and, if needed will accompany you to the doctor or hospital.  Young artists with any allergies or medical conditions are required to disclose those conditions to MAI officials upon check in.

TRAVEL DOCUMENTS: It is not necessary for US citizens to have a visa for travel in Europe.  Most countries only require a passport for travel to European countries. However, certain Asian countries do require a visa for travel outside of the country.  Young Artists should check with their perspective countries to determine which travel documents are needed for travel to Italy.  Young Artists that require visas can obtain an official letter of acceptance from MAI.  Participants should inform MAI well in advance so that appropriate letters of invitation can be forwarded to the proper authorities.

PROGRAM DETAILS: Once accepted into the program each young artist will be provided with an acceptance package that outlines all of the specific details on the 2017 program. This will include detailed information on travel, housing, performance schedules, practice and rehearsal details, what to pack, and general details to prepare for your trip to Italy.

* MAI commits to binding contracts to secure faculty, facilities, and housing for our young artists.  Therefore, once paid, tuition and fees are non refundable for any reason.
